President Bush, For the past 6 and some years, you have deceived Americans. You make it out to be that the most important conflict we have is terrorism. What about global warming? Poverty? Starvation? Sure 9/11 was a tragic event, but what made you so sure that bringing democracy to the Middle East was the way to deal with it? War is expensive and doesn’t decide who’s right… only who’s left. Only 30% of the country believe that the war in Iraq was in one form or another necessary. Also, if you were so confident to spend such a long time on one thing, why did you refuse to answer questions about it? Was it because you really didn’t know what you were doing? Because you only got into office because of dear old dad and your good ol’ brother Jeb? How about the fact that you’ve screwed things up for future generations? Social security? Shall I mention global warming once again? C’mon! The only other country besides Australia that didn’t sign the Kyoto Protocol and Australia’s heading down hill fast; using all it’s resources, importing trees from Japan! And can you imagine the message that sends to the rest of the world? Please, I beg you to name a single country that admires us? I’ll wait… I have homework to do anyway. Da dum da dada da dum da, da dum da da DA dadadadada, da dum da dada da dum da, DA dadadadadada. Nope, nothing? I thought so. Also the way you and the dimwit you made head of FEMA or FTOI (Federal Team Of Imbeciles) handled Hurricane Katrina! Could you have done a worse job?! Come on! What experience did he have! You don’t care about anyone but the people in your inner circle! So many suspicions have been raised about you and from what you’ve done and said it’s hard to dismiss them. I and millions of others are glad we only have a little less than 2 years left until we’re sure to be rid of you. You and your “followers” are narcissistic and untrustworthy. We cannot believe nor understand how we wound up with a president so single minded and seemingly ignorant. You are a disgrace to the United States. Many of us feel that somewhere in Texas… a village is missing its idiot. Maren 8th grader P.S. I’m sorry but no matter how you say them “misunderestimated” and “hispanically” are NOT WORDS!!!!!

Dear Mr. Bush, I wish you a happy new year in 2007. I hope that things start to change for you in this new year. I wish you clarity and peace within yourself. I wish your new found clarity and peace becomes your reality...so that it may become others' reality, as well. I wish you love and happiness, so that it may become others', as well. I wish you mindfulness and conciousness over important decisions that you make, so that others' may be mindful and concious, as well. I wish you laughter, so that others' may laugh, as well. I wish you the ability to put yourself in anothers' shoes, so that those people still living in the war may rest at night without having to worry about resting forever. I wish you true joy about where you are within yourself, so that money wouldn't be such and issue and oil, drilling, trees, and animals may just be left alone. I wish you compassion, so that the children of this world will be able to see what a beutiful world they live within. I wish you health, so that others' may live healthy lives and go to the doctor, homeopath, chiropractor, massage therpaist, accupuncturist, or whomever they choose to see...because it is our right...not insurance corporations to choose for our own well being. I wish you abundance, so that you may share the food on your table with those in poverty, share the education that you were lucky enough to receive, and share that money with those teachers who work so hard, so that they may continue to do their jobs with ease of mind that they will have a job tomorrow. I wish you the ability to see with open eyes the effect that you, as our role model, have on each and every living creature in this country and in the world, and know that each decision that you and your office makes, you make for all of us. In closing, I hope this is the best year of your life, because we are ready to live the best year of ours! Peace now and forever!!!! VERY SINCERELY, Amy

Dear Mr. President, I am concerned that while you were diligently preparing to take office as president of this great land you hurriedly looked up the word democracy in the dictionary and obtained an incorrect definition. You obviously read the definition for the word listed directly beneath democracy which is demolish. Based on the definition you read (“to pull down; to destroy”) you have done a fantastic job at achieving a totally democratic society both in the United States and in Iraq. As a matter of fact, your slight oversight has inspired me to write a poem based on your version of democracy. I hope you enjoy it and job well done. The blood of this earth is oil Tap its veins, take all we can Fuck Kyoto, we retain the right to drive monster trucks not shitty hybrid vans Religious freedom makes US different Free to believe in Jesus Christ Otherwise you’re a heathen This is democracy (?) No-bid contracts for your pals to rebuild a country you destroyed Rake it in, give some to Dick He’s a good ol’ boy All men are created equal, written into the Constitution Unless you are gay, black, poor, Muslim, or a woman Let your voices be stifled, that is the solution This is democracy (?) Tap dissidents’ phone lines Invade their homes Have an opinion, as long as it agrees with my own What if Katrina happened in Greenwich, Connecticut? Would rich, white folks drown While Brown is hyped by the president? (“you’re doin’ a heck of a job, Brownie”) This is democracy (?) Spend 300 billion to obliterate another nation While our children struggle to obtain a primal education Spend one trillion more to send someone to Mars While 40% of our people can’t get meds for their scars You’ve got the hardest job in the world, sir, you need a vacation Take three weeks clearing brush while Bin Laden plans an invasion THIS IS DEMOCRACY!!!!!!!!! (?) In conclusion, I would like to include the actual definition of democracy. Democracy is a state of society characterized by formal equality of rights and privileges. With all due respect Mr. President, learn it and live it. Sincerely, Amanda

Dear President Bush, Hear me...PLEASE! If just for a moment listen to every word I say, feel every word I say. Hear me with your heart; hear me with your soul. YOU have the greatest ability to change our communities...our country...our world for the betterment of society. This war needs to be over, no blood should be on your hands. It's time to wash it off; it's time to be a LEADER! Some traits you may consider, that every great leader should possess are: PEACE, LOVE, WISDOM, HONOR, and COURAGE. In order to instill these in your being you will first want to rid yourself of FEAR. I know you are scared, scared of what others close to you may think, scared to be seen as a coward to your peers, scared of the opinions of the small part of the country that agrees with your path...they are the minority...PEACE TO THE MASSES! Let your heart feel its deepest longing for what is RIGHT, what it TRUE, what is BEST. Now is the time to bring it to the surface, now is the time to make the choice to LOVE and HONOR humanity...There is only ONE of us! In Peace and Light, Meredith

Dear President, I appreciate you. I wish however that instead of allowing the killing of innocent people, you'd help those people. For their loved ones will hate us when their people die. Instead of soldiers of war send soldiers of love. With food, clothing and the strength and energy to help. Help them build their lives and show them the love, power and strength of our country. At the same time do the same right here in the U.S. Then you will have more people signing up for your armies. Just think if those 3000 soldiers hadn't died in Iraq, they could be here in the world laughing, loving and enjoying life on this peace mission. Life is precious. War is like hell. It doesn't help our planet. We need to help our planet. It is the only one we have. The planet is being destroyed. You with the power to change this, are wasting your time with war. I ask you to stop. To surge now with love. Send the soldiers on a peace mission word wide. Anywhere that needs fresh water, food and provide. At the same time act on a larger scale to have sustainable energy, transportation and communications word wide. This we lead America to the most success. This we lead our planet to success. God Bless America, the land that I love, I salute you Mr. President and pray you hear these words. Thomas

Dear Mr President, I am the soldier, away from home and family safeguarding the freedom of the Western World. I am the insurgent safeguarding my culture from the Western world. I am the mother mourning the loss of my only son, killed in action by a roadside bomb. I am the father, weeping for my baby lying dead in the wreckage of my Baghdad home. I am the opium farmer outside Kandahar forced to grow poppies for a Taleban warlord rather than food for my family. I am the heroin addict dying from an overdose in dank and lonely apartment. I am the old lady in New Orleans made homeless by Hurricane Katrina’s wrath. I am the millionaire alone in my fortified home, afraid to venture out of my gilded cage. I am the sweatshop worker in Indonesia making football shirts for Nike. I am the Wall Street Banker with stress related heart disease. I am a Columbian Trade Unionist looking down the barrel of a gun. I am a paramilitary stormtrooper. I am a cancer patient dying for want of affordable healthcare. I am a child in Ethiopia dying for want of any medicine at all. I am a back-street abortionist. I am an abandoned child. I am a teenage suicide. A serial killer. I am a peace demonstrator and a riot cop. I am a widow of 9/11 and an orphan of Shock and Awe. I am all of these people Mr President. And so are you. Happy Presidents Day. Namaste

Dear Mr. President, I hope this letter finds you in good health. I will probably never meet you in person; however I have enclosed some questions that I would ask. I have also shared with you my own opinion on these issues. Firstly – When and how did money become the most important thing to people? I think a big part of this happened when the budget became such a big part of the election process. No longer the leader with the best morals, but the one who will give us the most money wins. The media and advertisers just play along with this attitude (for the money I guess) Being a leader seems no longer to be about values such as compassion, consideration, patience and most of all having an honest heart. Why not put some money into advertising these positive qualities. Secondly – Why are people homeless, starving and neglected in one of the richest countries on the planet? Our obsessions with money and power means less fortunate people are left behind. Our leaders unfortunately, instead of picking up the slack, insist on spending billions each year on war or space exploration. Why not make sure EVERYONE is well and healthy before examining the surface of Mars, or sending troops to war. Lastly – Why are people being murdered, raped and abused daily, in the land of the “free”? We have become a “self serving society” with a need for immediate gratification….. “I want sex, I want money, I want power – and I don’t care who I hurt along the way.” How does this happen? I say through the example of our leaders. Why not use your position to be a positive role model, who promotes positive qualities and encourages (not forces) others to do the same. (The media will cover it, they do it for the money) Nobody will ever advertise the slogan “Just be happy with what you have”. It is up to you to decide to break this vicious circle into which we have gotten ourselves. They say charity begins at home (not on mars) and I think that right now the most charitable thing that you could do for you country is to teach people to be charitable, and lead them towards the true meanings of Love, Peace and Happiness. And remember, as muslim people say “There is no God but God” Yours Sincerely Anne

To our President: What makes you feel that you can push your will onto other people’s lives? The American people are at there all time low of supporting any decision that you are making for the better good of the country that you represent. When are you going to be the example that the American people want you to be? The example that you are showing is that it is o.k. to kill people for what you want! The example is being stated on our own streets here in the United States, where crime and gangs are doing the exact same things you are doing (killing other to get what they want). The only difference is that we here in the United States are punished for the actions that we take. When are you going to be punished for the actions that you are taking? I guess it will happen in due time. It happened for Saddam Hussein, who committed the same acts of violence that you are taking today. Have you gone down on the streets in Iraq and asked the people of Iraq if they want you there? President Bush, where is your heart? I hope you don’t treat your beautiful wife and daughter with the same actions that you show the people of Iraq. I understand that you are acting out of fear at this moment in your presidency and you are pushing your will on what you think is best for the world but you are only one person. What the world needs is all of our leaders to be working together as one. A football team doesn’t work by one player winning the game it works on the whole team working together. When I get into fear I act out in a character defect because I don’t want you to know that I am in fear. Can you relate to that Mr. Bush? I think that you should work hand in hand with one of my hero’s Michael Franti. Have you heard of him before? You can find him at www.spearheadvibrations.com. I would recommend you contact him because he went to Iraq after the war started and talked to the people. If you want proof of that you should watch his documentary that he made there it’s called I know I am not alone. What language are your fears? What language are your tears? What would God want you to do in this situation? You are doing the exact the same thing that the extremist Muslims think that there God wants them to do. How does it make you feel to be a hypocrite? God is to big for just one religion! Thank you for your time Patt

Thank you, great leader George W. Bush. Thank you for showing everyone what a danger Saddam Hussein represents. Many of us might otherwise have forgotten that he had used chemical weapons against his own people, against the Kurds and against the Iranians. Hussein is a bloodthirsty dictator and one of the clearest expressions of evil in today's world. But this is not my only reason for thanking you. During the first two months of 2003, you have shown the world a great many other important things and, therefore, deserve my gratitude. So, remembering a poem I learned as a child, I want to say thank you. Thank you for showing everyone that the Turkish people and their Parliament are not for sale, not even for 26 billion dollars. Thank you for revealing to the world the gulf that exists between the decisions made by those in power and the wishes of the people. Thank you for making it clear that neither José María Aznar nor Tony Blair give the slightest weight to or show the slightest respect for the votes they received. Aznar is perfectly capable of ignoring the fact that 90% of Spaniards are against the war, and Blair is unmoved by the largest public demonstration to take place in England in the last thirty years. Thank you for making it necessary for Tony Blair to go to the British Parliament with a fabricated dossier written by a student ten years ago, and present this as 'damning evidence collected by the British Secret Service'. Thank you for allowing Colin Powell to make a complete fool of himself by showing the UN Security Council photos which, one week later, were publicly challenged by Hans Blix, the Inspector responsible for disarming Iraq. Thank you for adopting your current position and thus ensuring that, at the plenary session, the French Foreign Minister, Dominique de Villepin's anti-war speech was greeted with applause - something, as far as I know, that has only happened once before in the history of the UN, following a speech by Nelson Mandela. Thank you too, because, after all your efforts to promote war, the normally divided Arab nations, at their meeting in Cairo during the last week in February, were, for the first time, unanimous in their condemnation of any invasion. Thank you for your rhetoric stating that 'the UN now has a chance to demonstrate its relevance', a statement which made even the most reluctant countries take up a position opposing any attack on Iraq. Thank you for your foreign policy which provoked the British Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw, into declaring that in the 21st century, 'a war can have a moral justification', thus causing him to lose all credibility. Thank you for trying to divide a Europe that is currently struggling for unification; this was a warning that will not go unheeded. Thank you for having achieved something that very few have so far managed to do in this century: the bringing together of millions of people on all continents to fight for the same idea, even though that idea is opposed to yours. Thank you for making us feel once more that though our words may not be heard, they are at least spoken - this will make us stronger in the future. Thank you for ignoring us, for marginalising all those who oppose your decision, because the future of the Earth belongs to the excluded. Thank you, because, without you, we would not have realised our own ability to mobilise. It may serve no purpose this time, but it will doubtless be useful later on. Now that there seems no way of silencing the drums of war, I would like to say, as an ancient European king said to an invader: 'May your morning be a beautiful one, may the sun shine on your soldiers' armour, for in the afternoon, I will defeat you.' Thank you for allowing us - an army of anonymous people filling the streets in an attempt to stop a process that is already underway - to know what it feels like to be powerless and to learn to grapple with that feeling and transform it. So, enjoy your morning and whatever glory it may yet bring you. Thank you for not listening to us and not taking us seriously, but know that we are listening to you and that we will not forget your words. Thank you, great leader George W. Bush. Thank you very much. Paulo

You lied to start this war. You have absolutely NO credibility. Iraqis do NOT want US in their country any longer. Read the APPEAL FOR REDRESS signed by active-duty troops, 1,000 of them as of Jan. 11. Today is also Shut Down Guantanamo Day of Action. Wake up! We voted to shift the policy in Iraq. Peace on Earth=NO War Gess

| If I was president, there would be no vacation,
there would be no occupation, there would be no excuses and no procrastination.
No lies about why thousands have died for small, greedy elitist assholes
masquerading as representatives of this great country which we all live
in. If I was president, I would build a bridge to Africa, take the troops
and we would all walk over there together and build homes until all were
sheltered, plant crops until all were fed, and teach...and learn how to
open our hearts to everyone. If I was president, I would board a plane to
the Middle East and I would pay for whomever is crazy enough to come with
me...hopefully there would be thousands, maybe more. We would all just walk
through the military zones as a crowd, natives of the land joining in...just
walking together, all feeling one LOVE. We would blanket the land with a
positive new glow. No more fear...just LOVE of everything, of life itself.
This love would be so overwhelming that no one would be able to deny it.
Blind hatred would give way to a mutual understanding that would lead to
a unity and a love of each other as fellow human beings, as souls occupying
the same planet. We would all together recognize that we are all part of
this Life, we are all connected. And then we would all celebrate that realization.
We would all dance together. Then I would resign, knowing that there would
no longer be a need for a president, because together we would all be president. ~Benjamin |

MISTER, George Dubya Bush, You are not my president. But I do offer you some advice on this sad day for the US. Listen Up. You have a precious chance to leave something more than the horrifying poop stain you have made of your so called presidency. Right now, you have some brilliant minds offering very sound advice and inspiration, to help heal the mess in Iraq. Some suggest you: Request the U.N. Security Council take charge of the crisis, then get your money grubbing buddies out of the way so they can actually succeed. Suggest replacing US humans (Im so sick of the word "troops") with U.N. Peacekeeping humans who understand the Iraqi culture and traditions and language. A suggestion I read of in an article by Amer Araim, who is a Muslim, is to draw people from Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Libia, Indonisia, Malasia, Bangladesh and Pakastan for replacements. Theyre not neighbors so would have less of a political agenda. What a concept. When I think of the person who is the biggest threat to our country and its people, George, I think of you. No amount of history, white house spin or media manipulation is ever going to fix this, but you do have a small window of opportunity here to do One thing right. You have used and abused our brothers, sisters, fathers mothers and kids enough. LET THEM COME HOME. Most of us are aware of the dirty deals youve been playing out behind the mask of "security". Weve learned to get our news from relyable sources, talk with our friends in other countries if we must to get the truth. In fact, I must thank you for inspiring me to listen to the Dixie Chicks a while ago. Im not a country fan but they have good truth. Also your actions (or should I say inactions) brought out the urge in me to buy some Kanye West music, I thank you again and if I ever meet Hugo Chavez I will heartily shake his hand because he Kanye and those Dixie Chicks had the balls to get to the point that until now I didnt have the balls to. That is to call you on you bad behavior and challenge you to make it right, you evil little twirp. Lori

Dear Mr. President, Let me start by thanking you for your efforts in serving the United States of America. It is an often thankless position you hold where it becomes obvious that you can’t please all of the people all of the time. Though there are a great number of people who are displeased with you at the current time, I am happy to say that I am no longer among them. I was once one of the many people who dislikes you and your policies. However, I have since learned some valuable things about the inner workings of life, and have come to realize that you have been doing what you think is best all along. In fact, I have realized that everyone everywhere is always doing exactly what they think is best. Therefore, I no longer blame you for your decisions. Why blame someone for doing what they think is best? Having said all of that, let me also share some of the other things I have learned during your terms in office. Not only are all of us doing what we think is best at any given time, but everything that happens to us is significant. There are no accidents and our reality is the product of our outlook and beliefs. Also, if you believe in some form of an all powerful God, then every single thing you see around you is a Divine creation. This goes for stars, rocks, plants, animals, and people. We, as human beings, all have this in common regardless of our occupation, religion, country of origin, or socioeconomic background. The ramifications of Divine Equality are enormous and challenging to fully embrace when you have been trained to focus on the differences between people all your life. However, once we are ready to accept this truth, we can truly make the world a better place simply by treating everyone we know as the Divine beings they are, and not judging them for the decisions they have made. This applies those who oppose us as well as those who love us, and is the reason why I am no longer among those who dislike you. All of the great avatars who has ever lived, from Jesus to the Dalai Lama, has given similar advice that needs to be heeded. Love everyone unconditionally. Not only will this liberate the individual practicing unconditional love from his or her own egoistic and judgmental ways, but it will also lead to the liberation of the entire world. We all want what’s best, which is a peaceful well balanced life where everyone is guaranteed certain basic rights, but we all have different ideas about how to bring that about. We also tend to believe that we are right and those who disagree are wrong, but we need to get passed that thinking and open up to the possibility that we may not have it all figured out after all. The only way to do that is to open up a dialog with people and actually listen to what they have to say in a non-judging way, whether they are evil dictators or peace loving avatars. We all share the same common bond as human beings and can learn to make this existence a peaceful one simply by treating everyone, including ourselves, with the same level of Divine dignity. Violence begets violence and love begets love, so let us start initiating the love now and see what happens.. Thank you again for your service to this country. It has enabled me to grow enormously as an individual and challenged me to set aside beliefs that no longer serve me. Yours Truly in Peace, Love and Gratitude, Trey

| Dear Mr. President, I am writing to appeal to your humanity- to your true wise "God" self. The fate of humanity hangs in the balance and that balance is tipping. We have forgotten the fundamental truths and ancestral wisdom that our country and our world was founded on. Despite our claim that we are the "most advanced civilization", we are and will always be part of the greater whole- the world community and the world. Whatever we inflict upon the earth, we too will suffer from. Everyone- be they rich, poor, Republican, Democrat, black or white, Christian or Muslim. It is time to wake up from the sleep of denial and face the facts. The time to begin is now ! We are in a state of emergency- global emergency. Declare it to the masses ! We would do the same for any other state or country in need of help. Would we not run to the aide of whoever is in trouble? Of course we would. That's because in times like those, we collectively wake up and remember the truth of who we are- one human family. At times like those, we are called upon to tap into our inner and outer resources that were previously unknown to us. We have the resources. we have the power. We have the know how. What is required is a major shift in how we perceive ourselves, our lives and our place in the world. We have been to the moon and back. This in and of itself is a testament to what we are capable of. Make a plan. Set goals. Regulate. Implement accountability...for our government, business and citzens as well. Listen. Draw upon the multitude of alternatives available just waiting for recogniton and funding to spring into action. Call upon our world leaders, wise ones and our ancestors who have gone before us. You do not need to take this on alone. This is a problem for the global family to solve together. We are the wealthiest nation in the world. Let us use that wealth toward building a healthy future for ourselves, our children and the future generations to come. Our survival depends upon our willingness to change. In the words of the immortal Ghandi..."we need to be the changes we wish to see in the world". Peace be with you Mr. President. May the love and light within you guide you on your way. Namaste'... | George, On the off chance that you noticed the lack of formality in my salutation, let me explain: I did not use the term “dear” as you are about as dear and highly prized as a ton of toxic sludge. I did not refer to you as Mr. President as that would suggest that I had an inkling of respect for you, which I don’t, or that I recognize you as the lawful President of the United States, which overwhelming FACT-BASED evidence concludes that you are not. Being mindful of the fact that your brain has been addled by alcohol abuse and cocaine consumption, not to mention countless legalized drugs supplied by the drug lords you so sanctimoniously serve, I will keep my language simple and to the point. George, I cannot say enough bad things about your performance so let it suffice to say you are a disgrace to your gender and the sorriest excuse for a human being our nation has ever had the misfortune to be led astray by. I attribute your wretched behavior to blue-blooded inbreeding and silver spoon syndrome, or maybe just bad seed, but still hold you accountable for being such a shit. You have had every opportunity in the world to do massive good for others, but yet you continue to do harm. I know you are not as stupid as you appear to be and are aware of the widespread suffering your testosteronic tirades cause. You are a rabid religious fanatic of the slimiest sort spewing hatred and violence while claiming God’s grace. Your fascist fundamentals are destroying the fabric of life itself and still you play dumb. George you are the worst kind of criminal, a serial one whose dastardly deeds far outweigh Saddam Hussein’s. He was hanged. What shall we do with you? Luckily, and regretfully, it is not for me to decide. I fear that my passion for peace would be over-ruled by my desire for due process. I can only hope that the American people will demand your kind of Texas-style justice and force Congress to protect our constitution and our country from the likes of terrorists such as yourself. George, if I were you, thank the Gods I am not, I would kill myself. I could not live with a heart so hardened by greed, or a soul so stained by sin, nor could I justify the waste of resources used to keep such a worthless, yellow-bellied lowlife alive. Please do not follow my conscience, as Diabolic Dick, who is much more of a white blight than you, would reign unfettered by your blunders. So George, the best advice I can give you is some that was given to me in kindergarten: Stop, Look and Listen. Stop the war. Look at the suffering you have caused and let the sorrow seep into the shallows of your soul. Listen to the cries of families struggling for food and shelter while dodging bombs and bullets and let it echo through the wasteland of your mind. Get down on your knees and truly repent for the atrocities of your reign. Ask for the light of love to infuse your spirit and cast away your inner demons which compel you to do the devil’s deeds. Realize that the highest calling of human beings is to spread laughter, light, and love, and that the power of love is what creates peace, not the love of power--that is what creates war. We, the people of the world, deserve so much better than what you, the self-appointed, fanatically anointed ruler of the free world have given. Since you are like a cancer spreading over the face of the earth and have proven so difficult to rid ourselves of, I pray to the Gods, all of them, and Jesus, for your privatized rapture. I know they have a special place reserved for you. May the forces of karma be thorough and swift and may you truly reap what you have sown. Sincerely, a concerned citizen, Tritta |

Broken homes and shattered dreams of what hsould be, your war was started to save those like me. But here I stand my sister gone, brothers dead, Many tears I've cried for the bullet wounded heads. I bow my head and start to pray, but noone listens to my dismay. Mr. President this war you have started, shattered familys and left us departed. You sent us to stop those who attacked us, but along the way we made a detour. Went to a city away form the one we were after, to drop bombs on someone hated more. we fought a battle that wasnt needed to fight, fought your fathers battle out of spite. we ignored the one who began the terror, like dust in the win, a blowing feather. What he had done faded out of sight, and he took off in flight. Soldiers losing lives and fighting children, not knowing this was possible and what has been. A father of 3 shooting children his babies age, out of need not out of rage. Only to go home and suffer with the memories from before, he ends his life to close that open door. Now his family suffers because of what you had him do, They have to move on start a life anew. Did you know Mr. Bush that this would be the consciquences of your actions? Did you know you would ruin lives by the thousands? Did you realize you would do nothing more than start a war against a country who was not bothering us at the time? Shattered lives and broke n dreams, Mr. Bush.... American the Free is not all that it seems. ~Lindy

Dear Mr. President- I may not know very much about the details of every political agenda, however, what I do know is that wars are being waged wrongly, people are suffering from hunger and lack of housing, genocide is occurring and Mother Earth is being degraded at the the hands of humans. ALL of these things, and more, we have the power to contribute to; we can either continue to allow them to happen, push them to new, horrible heights, OR we can stop....and find a way to change them for the better. As humans, we all have the capacity to do wrong, just as we have the capacity to do right. If we have chosen the wrong path, we ALWAYS have the option of changing our path from negative to positive. The transition may not be easy, but nothing worth while is easy. It is this simple point I ask you to acknowledge. Consider that change away from war and suffering and degradation is the right choice, and a possibility. That human kind can create a state of peace throughout the world and of the planet itself. Know that this change is not only the right choice for yourself, but an example and benefit for all living kind. You, as President of the United States of America and as a human being, have not only capacity for change and peace, but you also have the power to create this profound change. With this power also comes the responsibility. Please utilize this power for the good of all. Please be responsible and find a path to peace. Sincerely, Jody

Dear Mr President Pay your Fine In the ‘tween time , sleep in the mind time. We all pay the fine. The masses suffer, crumbling the flower, starving our power. All around me yesterday, today tomorrow; got to pay for my sorrow. But yet the tank continues, a home’s destruction - a missile’s deduction. The homing beacon of glory. No plan but today. no victory for tomorrow Stay the course? Better spend it with Tiger on the golf course. Just do it. Pull the trigger, for the towers. Water’s edge, interplanetary hedge. No earth but earth. No soul but soul. Persians, Sunnis, Shiites, Kurds, Syrians, Aphganis, Palestinians God’s land for God’s people from sea to shining sea. The flood of liquid gold passes through our vains forgotten is the promise of tomorrow. Confess ya! Confess! Sparks fly, Fuel ignites, Fire consumes. Take a breath. Breathe in the healing mothers breath. The O2 that drives us, the O3 that protects us. Power, Borders, Influence, Control. All lies behind masks and mirrors Find your soul. No soul but soul. Advertise it, compromise it, flash it, pay for war with it Bling Bling Jackpot! You deserve it. It comes your way. Wrap yourself up in it. You crave it. You want it. Drive in it. Step on your brothers head for it. Dig for it. Kill for it. Deal for it. Swim in it. Stuff your face with it. Did you pay your bill? Here’s a tip. Find your soul. No soul but soul. Education mass division. Fair playing field only for the joker. The transducer. Meta- influencer. Rats crawling through the classroom, a broken tar play-field. Broken glass. Blood scabbed knee. No pencil for paper. No paper for pencil. Day care for the homeless. No funds for Fruitvale. No child left behind. Pay your fine. Find your love. No love but Love Fund the children - not war! ~erik

Dear Mr. President: In your two terms of stolen presidency you have led this country into unprovoked war, slaughtering thousands of innocent Iraqi men, women and children. Your plans to turn the USA into a Third World Country are well underway. Our war based economy serves the rich and starves the poor. Poverty in the US has increased; global warming spirals out of control. The stock market's going to "correct itself" but you and your fat cronies already know that. Would you do us all a favor and resign? No? I didn't think so. So, here's my advice for the rest of your term: 1. Get the US out of Iraq. After demolishing their country and economy, I think we owe them reparations. We need to foot the bill for rebuilding their country. Its just bad karma. Honor your commitments in Afghanistan while you're at it. 2. Get over our dependence on oil. Implement conversion to bio-diesel, as well as hybrid electric cars and hydrogen powered cars within 5 years. 3. Institute global health care for all US citizens. Please stop killing off the workers. 4. Implement the Kyoto Treaty to combat global warming. 5. Release Leonard Peltier, whom Amnesty International calls a political prisoner. We all know he is innocent. 6. Stop harassing the people at Pine Ridge. 7. Legalize marijuana. 8. Stop provoking war in Iran and other global locations. 9. Normalize relations with Cuba. 10. Ditto Viet Nam. 11. Quit stuffing the religious right bull-loney down our throats. We don't buy it. 12. Fund education fully. Stop penalizing a la "No Child Left Behind" without adequate funding. Fund college educations for all. 13. Get a life. You'll be happier. Very truly yours, Pamela

I write this letter out of desperation and despair. After hearing your official response to the "surge "speech (and I use that term loosely) of Jan. 10, I feel that you are more than empathetic to my position: I just do not know what an ordinary person such as myself can DO to stop the insanity of this inept and unelected "president". Invading a sovereign nation's consulate is no different than invading that nation's borders. IT IS AN ACT OF WAR. U.S. forces kidnapped five or six people, the nationalities of those taken is in dispute. How is this different than the "hostage crisis" in Iran, our first major encounter with fundamentalist religious extremists, led by the Ayatollah Khomenei (sp?). hmmmm, I seem to recall that those hostages were to be released during the final days of President Carter's watch, but the imposter's daddy, who, at least, was most likely fairly elected, managed to delay that release until the day of his inau guration, making it appear as if he had achieved what Carter could not. At least GHW's approach to lying was somewhat subtle relative to the blatent untruths that incessantly roll out of the criminals that make up the present administration. However, I digress: invading Iraq was criminal and based on lies. It is obvious that this war was planned long before 9-11 and its purpose is based on a number of ulterior motives, poorly disguised as a "war on terror".Whether it's the privitization of oil, or providing Halliburton with the opportunity to "rebuild" what we destroy, or hurrying up that "rapture" by starting Armagedden is fairly moot. Georgie wanted his war and he got it. Iraq is peanuts and we are flailing. But Iran? Iran is not peanuts. Iran is big-time trouble. Taunting them by sending naval forces with nuclear (not NUK-U-LER) capabilities, and now invading a sovereign nation's consulate are the illegal acts of madness. Unfortunately, the lack of ov ersight by both parties over the last six years has allowed the constant erosion of the U.S. Constitution and the civil liberties of individual citizens. I have postponed writing a letter such as this because I know the likelihood of ending up on one of the "lists" they threaten and terrorize us with. I grew up during the Cold War and I feel like I have awakened in some future version of Stalin's Soviet Union, fearing the KGB and hoping to avoid the gulags in Siberia. And maybe that nightmare scenario would be better than finding those conditions well ensconced in my own country. Please please find some way to stop this man from foolishly, selfishly singlehandedly starting a conflagration that will consume most of the Middle East, if not the entire planet. One man should not have that much power; rather, the front man for the cheney-rove-condie triumverate that runs the george show should not be allowed to precipitate an international war just because he WANTS to. I know that impeachment would take up the rest of his time in office and would only divert attention from more important issues. But if impeachment is not an option, there MUST be legislation passed by both houses of Congress to STOP this inept imposter from playing out his inane (and insane)war game fantasy. How many more members of our military must be injured or killed for this man's ego? How many innocent Iraqis and probably Iranis must die to prove some point that only exists in the minds of power hungry capitalist oligarchs? When will we enact laws that prove that human life and people of all races and cultures are more important than oil and corporate profit? As my senator, I implore you to do all you can to prevent going to war with Iran, and getting our occupying forces out of Iraq, while attempting to correct whatever wrongs we have imposed upon the innocent citizens of that nation. With gratitude and respect, Ellen

Mr. President, Please let me start by saying, I write these words only from my heart. The world is currently at a plateau of sorrow, and existence of continuing elevation of war, genocide, starvation, poverty and pollution. Everyone of us has a personal responsibility as human beings to do their part in trying to make the world a better place whatever that individual act may be. Then, there are people who have taken on more than the personal responsibility for themselves but for others as well. Mr. President, you have chosen to pursue, and have gained the responsibility to represent the United States of America and involve this nation in the conflicts of others. Due to the decisions made and actions taken by you and your administration since the attacks of September 11th, the United States has engaged in another war and now sits intervened in conflicts in countries all over the world. America's troops are losing and risking their lives everyday, also effecting the lives of their families and it is due to the decisions you made to take them there or the decision you made to keep them there. In all true desperateness, it is hoped, that it is not your silently acting ultimate goal to have our Nation as well as others in such a state of turmoil. Many American citizens and much of the rest of the world have come to form a negative opinion towards you, the President of the United States of America, and it seems to be a comfortable and settling view. Surely you do not want to leave office in 2008 with the reputation as the President who wore a mask of good intentions, when all the while had evil connotations. Mr. President, you still have the opportunity to make the changes that will shift the negative views and opinions of the people into a new light, seeing the strong but best-interest decision making leader you can be. We all have the responsibility to take action towards the good and service of all human kind but you not only have that responsibility as a human being, you have chosen and gained the role as the leader of the United States of America and have involved, or chosen not to involve the nation in serious issues around the globe. Some of which we should not be involved in, and others, it is complete carelessness and disregard of human life for us to sit by and watch. You have the opportunity, the power, the attention, the need, the man power, the funding, and the support of the American people to make the changes that need to be made, to bring our troops home from Iraq, send the help and support to Darfur that so desperately is in need, fund the countries and situations that will help the people, and no longer continue making the decisions that feed the profit. All you need now, is the heart. Again, I speak only from my heart, I beg you to look at what is right not only for yourself, but for your country and the world it is interacting with. What is the priority to you? When making decisions, consider them with love as in the end, that's all we've got, and all that matters. Now Mr. President, weather you would choose to make changes for yourself and your name or from your heart, for the world, for truth, for love, and for the well being of humankind, I plead to you today, to take the time to open your eyes, look at the world, look at your loved ones, look into your heart and find the strength within to break outside the political structure, find selflessness, and lead this country with heart and positive moral that it so desperately needs right now. It is not only, your duty to be a political leader but first and foremost, a human being, demonstrate the qualities of a true leader, with your heart, a show what a true representative of the people should and can be. These are my thoughts and concerns, and it is my hopes, dreams and prayers that you will read this letter, take these words into consideration, and lead our country and the world to a better place. Most of all, may love be with you and become you. Kelly

Letter to the president: Accept the glasses. President Bush wakes up on Presidentís Day and puts on a new pair of glasses form Michael Franti. He can no longer see red states or blue states, the religious right or the liberal left, pro Israeli or pro Arab, pro oil or pro industry, pro war in Iraq or anti terrorist. He saw ways to feed the hungry, get jobs for the poor, give everyone healthcare and an education. He went to his cd player and heard a song by Michel Franti and Spearhead. He began to jump. He could see new things through the glasses. He saw the sparkle in peopleís eyes, the love in their hearts and the goodness in their souls. He jumped and the glasses fell to the floor. The vice president stepped on the glasses and the pieces were all over the floor. He told the vice president of the glasses and his new vision. He blamed Michael Franti for making him jump and break his glasses. The doorbell rang. It was Michael Franti. The president scolded him for making him jump and break his glasses. Michael said no problem. Have another pair of glasses and be a president with a new vision. The president said thanks, hugged Michael and said maybe we should also legalize marijuana. You do not believe this is possible. Maybe not. Ask Michael Franti if he has glasses for you. Darrell

Dear President Bush, Hi President. How are you? Well war kills people and a lot of people have already died. We learn to talk to each other to solve our problems in my second grade class. Can't the presidents of countries do this too? If you believe that we must have war- I was thinking if the people in war could use water guns (those really big ones) it would be better. And who ever gets soaked is out. The other team wins. I'm just thinking and I am still a kid. If you don't like the idea that's fine with me. I will understand. Maybe the presidents could choose teams to help you and you guys could have the water fight. This would save a lot of people from being killed. From a concerned citizen, Justice Second Grader

Dear Mr. President and First Lady: I am writing this in hopes that my one voice will be heard. There are so many topics I could plead with you on. There are so many voices that are not heard everyday in this country and abroad. There are so many that fear speaking their truth. I feel the need to speak for this country, my country, OUR country. This country is a great country. Vast lands and waters, beautiful deserts, mighty forests, beaches for miles, rural and urban villages and grand cities. These lands, this beauty is inhabited by people of the most extraordinary virtues. They come from one land but have a multitude of ideas, opinion, beliefs, values and dreams. I have sat and meditated on how one of these people would represent all of these people, all of this land. The thought boggles my mind. I sat there in this thought and the one thing that consistently, constantly came through was, to represent this vastness, these differences, was communication. This is the only way a person in your position could possibly Lead in a manner that would best represent, respect, and reach. I have been keeping tabs on all of you speeches, some of your radio talks and visits abroad. I am no expert. I am just one of the many attempting to understand and remain in touch with my duty as an American citizen. I see that most of your agenda has a common thread throughout. The common thread that I see and hear is fear. Fear of being attacked, fear of losing wealth, fear of not being respected, personally or as a super power. We were attacked. We continue to be attacked in Iraq and Afghanistan and now in Somalia. Will Iran be next, pray No. We are one of the wealthiest nations in the world who is so far in debt that our grandchildren will feel the stress and strain of the tax that it will take to relieve us of our "investment." We are THE super power when it comes to armament, war, and forcing nations to listen to our ideas, opinions, beliefs, values and dreams. This does not represent me, respect me or reach me. I am really not that unique. I am connected to enough people that I see that they, I fear my government, my country yes and even my neighbor. Love thy neighbor, not fear them. The fear must be faced, even when the leader or leaders of a nation cannot face their own. I am willing to say to you, Mr. President, that you can no longer rule with fear, for fear sake. There is no basis of reality in it. The reality is that your policies, agendas and secrets are what scares me the most. I would even go so far as saying terrified. I will be courageous! I will be brave when I stand in front of you to say that I am Not afraid. I stand with many, legions of Peaceful People who say that they will stand in the face of fear and say No More. No more money from a house that is adamant their speeches that they are not supporting the Iraq war. No more soldiers without a plan is clearly laid out on how we will care for the 140,000 troops that are in Iraq and bring them home. No more bids on an infrastructure that the people of Iraq are more than qualified to build themselves and will not destroy when it is built. Or if they do then they will have to face their own people and say that they will stand up for themselves, courageously. No more control of our media to assist in the deafening of the people of this vast nation. No more signatures that you believe will keep you safe from accountability and above the law. No more free trade with other countries when your own country is without work, food, a middle class and security. I say this with all the courage I can, NO MORE!!! The people are awake in the streets of the rural and urban villages and cities this day. They have opened their eyes and are ready to come together for a cause that will make them a "We the People" and YOU work for Us, we do not work for you. We are the George Washingtons, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincolns, Martin Luther Kings, Rosa Parks, Robert Kennedy's, we are the fore fathers and fore mothers of our children's nations. We will form a new nation. A nation where intention, agenda and the sharing of the responsibility is truly seen as the goal of this nation and not placed in hands of men and women that do not communicate honestly of their intention, agenda or refuse to take responsibility for their word, their works or the huge responsibility that America holds to this World. We will not allow any King win. At the beginning of this letter I included Mrs. Bush in the salutation. I know a women's heart, a woman's mind. Laura is a mother, a wife, a Womyn human being. I would like to say Mrs. Bush listen to your heart. I once heard you say on an interview "I don't need his (Mr. G. W. Bush) approval or permission." Be true to yourself! I have seen you in the past two years take on causes that help the people. You seem to be the ying to W's yang. Talk with your husband. Soften his heart. Help him to see that he must communicate with ALL the people and the world. From everyone that I see surrounding the President you, Laura, you are the strongest link to the people. Listen. Listen. The people of this America thank you for coming out today. To the World thank you for understanding the difference between a government and the people that are governed. Thank you for being US! With as much Love as my heart can hold these humble, simple words are meant to be a thread that helps to mend, keep strong, and is part of the movement that is DEMOCRACY! Peaceful People Unite, speak out, YELL FIRE!!!! Cami

| Dear Mr President, the management, and intelligent.
It's a beautiful world don't you know you got to give your love and it will grow, it's a beautiful world don't you know you got to give yourself and you will grow. I see that I may give, and I give so I may see, to give is to recieve, oh to recieve humbly. To recieve yes to be one with the almighty, to recieve yes to be one with the almighty. Oh beautiful world where have you gone, I'm falling and I don't know where I'm falling from, can't ever turn back must always move on trying to find rythm in the holy one. Pushing on to the future pushing on from the past, pushing for a time where we may all relax looking for a path to find our way back home yeah Oum. Struggling to connect with love and respect, hoping for a glance at where we be at in community we find our souls are at rest yes the beauty the essence of that which is best. Oh beautiful world where have you gone I'm falling and I don't know where I'm falling from, can't ever turn back must always move on, trying to find rythm in the holy one. Oh I'm an individual I'm not you I am me, who am I, I do not know gonna have to wait and see, why an individual, why oh why me, who am I to be giving such a power to be free. Should I be grateful, should I feel horrible, it's impossible to know just unbelievable. With the love that I give and the love I recieve what am I gonna have to be to get things clearly. Oh beautiful world where have you gone I'm falling and I don't know where I'm falling from, can't ever turn back must always move on, trying to find rythm in the holy one. We may realize this relationship wasn't made for us to be advantageous, a gift for us all of all that is take it with a smile or sadness, freedom is the key to confusion or clarity, life is a prison or an open sea, we find are passion in the choice to love beauty, oh yes questioning infinity with simplicity. Oh beautiful world where have you gone I'm falling and I don't know where I'm falling from, can't ever turn back must always move on, trying to find rythm in the holy one. Sincerely Lukeli |

Democracy Anyone???? I sit here all alone, pondering your throne, it seems like a monarchy, when the people's voices can't be free. I cry to understand, why you only one man, can take no real stand, and yet so many sit and watch, with no intention for this pain to stop, how oddly the complacency has grown, while the king sits on his throne. Those that are unaware, can just sit around and stare, but those of us who know, take care to make a show. We are not anarchists or unfair, we just can't comprehend that many don't care. But one day the masses will see the light, that souls can reunite, to repair the bits and pieces, of this earth and all its creatures. So, king without a crown, don't forget that this is a country for the people, and these people are still around, and we promise you sir we will make quite a sound, because surely enough you have let us all down. This is to all the presidents that were elected by the people and for the people, and stood by the values and laws of our democratic and free society. Sincerely, Erica

El presidente- contrary to the paradigm you currently market and subscribe to, I would like to share with you that: We have passed through the dark ages. NOW IS THE TIME for spirit warriors and sages, to open the wooden door portal of inner power, mirror the light of awareness, a cosmic shower of golden charged light atomic awareness. Apathetic masses awaken, where as before, they could care less. Now they rub their eyes and ask what's going on? I'm sick and withered, I will no longer be a pawn. It is the autumn of your patriarch, leaves are falling and as the darkness falls your days are growing shorter your insolence is grinded in the mortar. Our consciousness baptism is alignment with the grids reordered. We don't need your body/mind, heart/head schism your bi-polarity creates cataclysm. As we crystallize we see clearly through our multidimensional prism no longer subdued. we chose interdependence and bark at your condescendence. How could you be so vein? Is your cabinet and court all that ignorant and insane? As you project to the masses media speaking out their asses, telling lies in a confusing quagmire. I refuse to bow to you sires. You have stolen the thrown of false democracy, self-appointed supremacy and now we are aware and we see you as you are: the death star. Darth Rumsfield, darth chaney, darth bush, the men you send to war are eating mush in the middle of Hades killing for you innocent villages of children, gentlemen and ladies Who have nothing remotely to do with your oil. Why do you insist on continuing to spoil Our country and our peoples reputation for your own self righteous indignation. Haven't you squirrels stashed away enough nuts for your winter? Oh, you're running around in chaos for the mind control imprinter. How cold are you planning to be?what kind of future do you lizards see? Do you feel somewhere in your still small voice that you'll be exiled from the nation? with no where to go you'll have to sow with your nuts a skull and bones plantation. For who will care for you, when you fall from power off your towers and what happens when you hit the ground? Does anyone listen to the sound of your dark empire, density hitting earth? can we forsake you, can we forgive you, can we foster your rebirth? Let me tell you about the kind of future I see after your falling. A new dawning light is calling us in cosmic revelation, to start a tribal nation of merriment and mirth light workers midwife a divine consciousness to give birth to reciprocated respect and facilitators of the source who the people elect to the round table, people leading enlightened and able to think holographic ally. knowing what effects you effects me. we are all connected by roots of the same tree. I see covered for all care of health and wellness, in wisdom we share. I see abundant food organic, there is plenty to manifest for all, don't panic. We are hereby casting you and yours, dark forces to your draconian reservation, your alien nation on the planet of war. For its fiery atmosphere can transmute your vile natures causing you to clear all of your incessant desires to instill fear. I see a future where we find forgiveness and impulse you with our willingness to co-create a resolution and concur in an understanding solution, to get to really know who you truly are. I believe in your hearts each of you consists of more than the Czar archetype that you embody. I see you, I see you, I see you as the shadowy monsters that creep out of my closet as I lay sleeping. Are your afraid I will awake and mirror your creeping? At the sound of repressed fear I turn on the light, for your partials to illuminate, to ignite, to feel yourself as part of the matrix. Then how you get your kicks shifts. Through the dark the light is sifts. I see you now like a child and perhaps my imagination of your inherent dignity and goodness is wild naivety or optimism beyond boundary. But I can not teach my heart to see a completely evil existence. Why come to this plane of connection to create emotional distance and awkward resistance to the vibration of love. Perhaps you are loving us in your own way. Teaching us lessons of the day through your unethical conduct and mismanagement of false power, causing many to cower beneath you But not me, not me, not me. I look you in the eye of Horus, with my eyes of truth and sing a tone of vibrations, a chorus to quake and awaken your molecular structure. I don't like your past behavior, you've been a Gaia f****r. Break the cast around your heart and rupture open all the armor falling down, as I remove your crown and look you in the eye, shedding a single tear, I cry as I see who you really are. Beyond the reptilian modifications, beyond your veils of Oz, your altercations. Step out sires from beyond the curtain. The veils are lifting, the truth is certain. Surrender now your weapons of fear promoting and mass destruction Now is the time for co-creative reconstruction. I am certain wizards-it is time to lift the dark curtain and let the light in. I forgive you and incidentally I don't believe in sin. I don't believe you will be banished into the inferno, I believe it's all over, the end of your show. Now is the time for audience participation Sparking ideas, kindling for our flows and flames of creation. Now is the time for the seven ray nation. Diana a.k.a. cosmicflowindigo

Dear Mr President, The White House resident, Why can't you hear the voices of the people who are crying? Have you ever tried to think about your own children dying? Do you want to be the hero of this nation, of this Earth? All you have to do is stop the devastation to show us all your worth. You seem to be afraid though we're the one's with all the weapons. You send our kids to battle but you aren't volunteering Jeb's sons. How 'bout you? You never seemed to eager to fight in any war. Except the one in which you cheated to beat out Al Gore. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate you, don't want to see your neck snapped. If I do that, it's a downward spiral, and soon I'll too feel trapped. But trapped you're not, It ain't too late, let's turn back while we can. Stop the insanity, show the world your humanity, be a real American man. America's supposed to mean freedom, yet you want to control the globe. You want to know how you can get free, just lend me your ear-lobe. Shrug off all the Rove's and Rumsfields that are pulling on your strings. It's you at the podium, a mic in your hand, now it's time to change some things. Call back all the troops from the places they're not wanted or forever and a day, by a million souls you will be haunted. Instead, maybe lend a hand to the people who are dying in Darfur, or acknowledge global warming and stop driving your hummer. I know you read the Bible, but it's not your job to bring about the book of revelation. I never saw you name in there, so leave alone our God's creation. I know your life's been hard, filled with whipers in your ear, but it's time to flip another card, and let go of all you fear!. ~Derek

Dear George Bush, Martin Luther King's voice resonates in my skull. His warm timbre, cascading cadences, mellifluous repetitions, soulful call-and-response, and ever-surging forward propulsion, is unparalleled in the history of oration. Is there anybody out there whose speaking voice captivates in the same way? Please let me know because I need to hear it. My family listened to Dr. King all day today, January 15, 2007 on WBAI in New York City. While the rest of the world heard snippets of his "I Have a Dream" speech for the umpteenth time, WBAI played other equally penetrating public addresses Like "Where Do We Go From Here?" and "I See the Promised Land." I'm always unsettled when I think of the yawning vacuum of inspired political leadership in America or internationally for that matter. But my imagination always brings me back to the realization that great change is possible and always starts, and perhaps ends, within. I wrote the following poem in tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. for his birthday this year. Here are some of my dreams: I dream the kaleidoscope of humanity saw the light. I dream Mahalia Jackson sang good news through me. I dream you moved out, moved on, and cut your losses. I dream I sneezed and counted my blessings. I dream the Five Deadly Venoms fought the Seven Deadly Sins. I dream money for schools and jobs instead of bullets and bombs. I dream genies tricked out of wishes. I dream lions spreading their wings. I dream your eyes glowed like a Labrador retriever. I dream Abbie Hoffmann raising the White House's consciousness. I dream turtles stinging the police. I dream New York City finally slept. I dream I saw a riot in your eyes. I dream you preferred questions to answers. I dream I was on a vision quest and met Stevie Wonder. I dream the universe began with a bang. I dream an unexpected error occurred. I dream I was lost in a Charlie Kaufman meta-movie script. I dream Jack Black and Jack White arm-wrestled. I dream I was called an ask-it-all. I dream I collided with a sunbeam then transfigured into a glowing orb of light. I dream I was a wolf following a scent in the wilderness. I dream I slept with a seraph and gave birth to an illuminated manuscript. I dream I played hide-and-go-seek with Bobby Fischer. I dream I was kicked around and realized I flew from Ronaldo's cleats. I dream I had breakfast with the Morning Star. I dream I was never rending. I dream Hera was finally appeased. I dream I wrote a newer testament. I dream I went over Niagara Falls and Poseidon caught me. I dream I got the Prince of Darkness' autograph. I dream the Mad Professor remixed my DNA. I dream I found a message in my alphabet soup. I dream musician clones were sued for identity theft. I dream Akira Kurosawa scripted my daydreams. I dream John Coltrane covered my naked body with sheets of sound. I dream I kissed my love and achieved freedom from endless cycles. I dream I fell to pieces and was puzzled about it. I dream I tiptoed through the tulips with rose-colored sunglasses on. I dream I found a cure for the summertime blues. I dream silver-lined clouds somewhere over the rainbow. I dream the odd couple said they were even-steven. I dream I was hit where the sun don't shine and saw stars. I dream I meditated under a Bodhi tree listening to Steely Dan's "Bodhisattva". I dream you had a life wish. I dream to remember to dream. I dream the Sopranos silenced the Three Tenors. I dream David Lynch redirected Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. I dream I had the Roadhouse Blues on the Highway to Hell. I dream like a virgin touched for the very first time. I dream my heart skipped a beatdown. ~John

Dear Mr President (Poem) |

dear mr president, as one of your younger citizens i have quite a few concerns about what kind of world we are creating for myself and future generations. we must stop the war if we are ever to be respected internationally again. we have lost any gains we may have made as a frontrunner in civil liberties and democract. freedom of speech is important here also in iraq, iran and afghanistan. the taliban destroyed ancient priceless beyond measure statues of the buddha and yet we are the ones who put them into power and have created all this madness in our greed for the monies generated from opiates. will the whole world be destroyed over people fighting over oil and poppies? all over the world the earth is being destroyed for corporate profits. trickle down economics dont work. how about eliminating money altogether and getting back to a time when everyone had enough to eat because we treated each other as brothers and sisters and shared what we had? i am only one and a half so my mommy had to write this letter for me. she used to spend her time volunteering at the environmental center until all the news got too depressing for words, so now she stays home loving up on me and my brother and my dad in hopes that some day will be a brighter day for every bird, plant and creature, even human on this beautiful planet. ~shannon

Dear Mr. President, I love America! Growing up in America, just like you, I had a Christian mother. She made sure I knew how lucky I was to be born in America. I was Just a child when she would read me stories from the bible. I can remember her sitting at my bedside, telling me that not all people had the freedom to read the bible. In some countries prayer meetings were held in secret, and those that believed faced persecution & even death. One thing my mother told me, and I will never forget. Even though their bibles were taken, loved ones jailed, & lives destroyed, the evil government forces could never change their hearts! A powerful lesson, I learned to put my beliefs before my government & always follow my heart. It appears Christianity is just a political tool for you, but my spiritual life is worth more than the money and power of 10,000 lifetimes. As a brother, I fear for your soul. Very few will argue that Jesus of Nazareth is the most famous pacifist of all time. Yet you used his name to get elected, and then used your power to kill. If you honestly believe in Jesus, you should be terrified to face him upon leaving this world. The bible says the spirit of God is Love, Compassion, & Understanding. Your life's actions reek of blasphemy against that spirit. Jesus himself said, "Blasphemy of the spirit shall not be forgiven on this world or the next." I just want to let you know, that while your soul may be damned, mine is not. No puppetmaster pulls my strings, and no amount of intimidation will turn my heart. If you do not have the power to unify & protect people with love, then you are powerless. If you do not see the treasures in a vibrant, natural earth, then you are blind & poor. I am not blind, poor or powerless. I know that love can undo the madness you helped to unleash. While I cannot restore the lives you stole, I can help heal the hearts of those left behind. I will continue to gather love and it's power will grow. This is my life, love & kindness are my governing powers. When love replaces madness, those of you that advocate violence will find, you are the criminals. I really do feel for you. It's a pity & a shame what you've done with your life. Your soul is truly in peril. But our fate is not the same. America will be restored from the terror of losing our civil liberties, and love will govern us in peace. Please take the truth in these words, and change your life. Only then is there hope for your soul. Love & Light, ~ Michael

Dear Mr. President, I am currently a 23 year old private in the United States Army; I'm training to be a combat medic so I can help my country and also myself ($$for college.) It scares me to death to think there are people out in this world who hate Americans and the way of life so many of us take for granted. It also scares me to death to think about what I might loose my life for, the fight for terrorism (Osama Bin Laden) or the control of a country for our own political interests. One of my questions to you is what's the purpose of sacrificing further Americans on Iraqi soil? Saddam Hussein is out of power and dead, what are we going to achieve by our continued occupation of Iraq? Would you be willing to sacrifice your daughters for the cause, if they chose to enlist? Because I guarantee my parents would not want to sacrifice their child or even my friends (who I serve with) parents. Now don't get me wrong I think the war on terrorism is a definite problem needing to be addressed but is the occupation of Iraq and the death of further American Soldiers going to help the cause? Political interests and the war on terrorism are two separate things. Sincerely, Andrew

Dear MR President, I am writing from Australia. Unfortunately we too are also involved in the war in Iraq. I am writing to ask you to please reconsider the current occupation of Iraq. I would like to express my personal views on the situation going on, right now, in OUR world. I am but a simple man, I am lucky enough to have a job in which I work 5 days per week. I like to enjoy my spare time involved with family and with those I love. Nothing extraordinary. I smile many times a day when things I see, inspire me. When I laugh it is a wholehearted one, from deep within my soul, displaying my true appreciation for what has caused it. I like to think I am a fairly average man living my own life, busily to and fro, in all I do. Typical working class, but most importantly free. Freedom is the key ingredient in my life which makes that smile and laughter continue. Freedom to do as I please. To go to the beach, to cheer my team in sport, to sing along at concerts, to scream my lungs out if I need to. I know, you too, are blessed with this same freedom. Isn't it grand? Freedom & liberation where key selling points for the war on terror and Saddam. Qualities that you and all co-operative countries wanted to instil in the people of Iraq. That and those very well hidden weapons of mass destruction. Have we found those yet? Forgive me, I digress…. To liberate a people unjustly dealing with a tyrannical leader. A dictator, who could click his fingers and have any person in his realm dealt with. A very worthy cause, it seems. The difference that I see is this perhaps has not gone as easily and as smoothly as planned. There is NO freedom in Iraq now either: * No employment, coupled with inflated prices have seen many people suffer. I know I would suffer too, if I had no work and still had to feed my family. * The insurgent's bombings increase daily in Iraq now, killing many innocent people. * The effect of the government is minimal, with no real law able to be enforced. The law has become a target of the insurgency. * The people feel no security within their homeland. * Happiness has disappeared from day to day life. This list is but a small insignificant one, tabled by a man on the other side of the world from both America and Iraq. But ask yourself this, If the security of your people was hindered by a occupying or colonising force, your freedom to walk down the street was limited, the constant threat of random bombs going off, in your towns and streets, set by your fellow country men and women, motivated by hatred of the occupying force what would you do? Would you want freedom & liberty? Would you fight to retain it or gain it? Of course you would. You did right? Liberated your lands of a colonising force. America's history is grand. It contains stories of great courage under extreme oppression. The pride shown, in the will to stand up for yourselves and your fellow country men & women is inspiring. Forcing the colonialists from what in your belief was a harsh regime was liberation. Right now who is fighting for liberation? You or the Iraqis? It is messy and it has many sides to many stories. But the vision should not be lost. The ideal should continue to be strived for. Think of the people caught in the middle. The men and women who struggle to feed their children. The man whose home has been lost due to the war. The mothers who's sons are no longer alive. The fathers who have to watch what they were so proud of crumble if front of their own eyes. Do they still smile & laugh? I doubt it. Freedom is lost for now and it cannot be found in more young men with guns being sent to Iraq. It needs to be done through discussions, politics and most of all Love. This is a hard thing for any one man to provide. But love is what is needed and love will win, in the end. You are the one man who can change the world. You have changed it before and you will again. You can touch so many peoples lives if you re-think of the happiness that will arise from the careful consideration of occupying forces. I am just one man. And these are my wishes. But I do not stand alone. Peace!!! Tomas

Children For Peace Imagine a school where love is the rule. Can you see a mine where peace is the jewel? Imagine a school where love is the rule. Can you see a mine where peace is the jewel? Let's open a school called The Academy of Children for Peace. Let's all open a school for children to cultivate peace. We can teach loving-kindness. We can open our hearts. The children will teach us to keep them open, open to all other parts of life, of love and law. Imagine a school where love is the rule. Can you see a mine where peace is the jewel? Let's enroll our president, seat him in the back of the class. The children will teach him and if he finds peace in his heart of hearts he will pass. At nap time we'll cuddle him, he'll find delight in things other than war. Then he'll pass on his post to the girl with the most peace in her heart and love to the core. Imagine a school where love is the rule. Can you see a mine where peace is the jewel? Imagine a school where love is the rule. Can you see a mine where peace is the jewel peace is the jewel peace is the jewel? ~Polly

Gang Mentality To whom it may concern: I am writing this as my first step towards stopping the gang mentality of our society. I have witnessed the most vicious gang in action and no one can seem to stop them. See it’s not the one’s who wear red that call themselves Bloods. The most dangerous crew doesn’t wear blue and call themselves Crypts. No, they are much more sneaky then that. They mix black truths with white lies, so they wear gray suits with neckties, and throw toy soldier into battles they would never send their sons to. They call themselves our elected officials. See I used to be in the military, becoming part of an Army Of One, dumb president who traded in the well being of our environment for a gamble on economy, and i was stationed in DC when the twin towers toppled from terrorist acts of men hiding behind box cutters and religion, claiming that violence was their way into heaven. But then again, we were the one’s who trained them. And since our motto is retaliation, I had to witness our warriors return home from combat where they left limbs and friends on the battlefields without acknowledgment, while they paraded around Jessica Lynch as a war hero because a white female soldier getting captured creates better P.R. and support for a nation looking for any reason to stand behind it’s country. A country where gang violence can start from simply invading the right hood with the wrong colors, where bullets fly and people get gunned down like black males reaching for wallets. And since their motto is retaliation, they ride or die while police act fast to bring’em in either dead or alive because lets face it, we just can’t have people going around killing each other. Unless it’s on foreign soil and it could have an impact on oil investments. Then its okay to drop bombs over Baghdad and portray ourselves as hero’s on the 5’oclock news because, we are freeing their people and rebuilding their cities. Maybe we just need to bomb ourselves. That way Bush would give us 80 billion every year to rebuild our own cities. Hell, it would create more job opportunities, helping those who aren’t looking for handouts to get off welfare because honestly, it’s not really well or fair, when we’re giving out too many fish to lazy fucks with no future and not enough to the struggling single mother trying to go back to school, so she can provide a better future for her children. But it seems impossible with this president because he’s a backwards Robin Hood, that’s why i call him Nibor Dooh. So while Enron’s get rich, blue collars sing the blues while getting ripped off. Our social security is being stolen in broad daylight with a spotlight, and people are ready to trust it in the hands of a man who says, fool me once, shame on, shame on you, fool me…can’t get fooled again. We keep pushing this gang mentality on our children when we do not teach them ourselves, but instead place them in front of the television, only to see actors, ballplayers, and singers getting lighter jail sentences and million dollar contracts, while they let go of our teachers for budget cuts and classrooms get bigger, while understanding gets smaller. You do the math because I’m having trouble figuring out what we stand for when no child left behind equals the desire to teach, plus patience, minus paychecks for cutbacks, and the only answer we are leaving our children, is you better make that money, and it’s time we start changing the message. Sincerely a teacher an ex-toy soldier who stand before you following their hearts and not the gang mentality. by Kinetic Affect (Gabriel and Kirk)

January 20, 2007 Dear President George Bush, I have been concerned about the safety and reputation of our country ever since we waged war on the Iraqi people 4 years ago. I take this war personally, because I was born in Viet Nam. I had to flee the country of my birth, under gunfire at 3 am at the age of 4. Because I was blessed with the chance to grow up in a democratic country, in a safe area, I am now able to assess the events of my life. War has torn my family apart. It wasn’t until the age of 18 that I met my biological father. While I am so glad to have a father, I am still angry sometimes about the years that we were separated. The war forced my family to flee separately in fishing boats, so it took 13 years of endless searching before my father knew whether I was dead or alive. I know by personal experience that war does not last for 4,5, or 10 years, it lasts a lifetime because it destroys lives even years later. When I hear of the bombings, I think of the fathers—both American and Iraqi—who are killed and who will never see their wives and children again. I think of the terror of seeing bombs come from the sky and the horror of a gun being pointed at you. What is the meaning of “democracy”, when your brother, sister, mother, uncle, grandmother, grandfather, uncle, aunt, and cousin are killed? Mr. President, I know you have a vision. You have a will that is strong. I admire your courage to follow through with your vision of things. All I ask is that you widen your vision to hold the effects of your policies. Who is an Iraqi? An Iraqi is a man, a woman, a son, a daughter, a neighbor. An Iraqi is a family, not just a cause. Please reconsider your plans by reviewing the effects of your policies so far. A courageous leader looks at the consequences of his actions and then makes the appropriate changes to get the effects he wants. If you want democracy to flourish in Iraq, then stop killing people. This means no more bombs, no more aggression by our military personnel. Pull out the troops. Then, help the right people. Within every situation, there is always a core group of people who have a keen ability to sense what’s needed in their community, connect with the right people, and give the help that’s needed. Seek them out. Learn who’s really giving shelter, aid, food, medical care, access to gasoline and clean water. These are the real leaders. Do not fool yourself that the appointed leaders you chose represent the people. Empower the leaders on the ground by giving them more aid. Let your help be quiet. Be glad when after the US troops have left, the people find themselves getting their lives back together seemingly unaided. Practice covert help. This way, if the Iraqi people succeed, it will be under their homegrown leadership and impetus. Every person has the will and the genius to bounce back. Aid this natural desire, and the Iraqi will regain his/her sovereignty. In short, review your actions and see if military presence is really helping to gain the Iraqi man, woman, and child democracy. If it isn’t, choose the alternative. Leave quietly, and give unnoticed the help that is asked and wanted. Many thanks for your ear, Phuong, American

Open Letter to the President: Mr. President, you’re making me sick! “Letter to Laura”* |

Dear Mr. President, I know that I am just a youth voter that you don’t care or pander to and you should know that I didn’t vote for you either. Despite this, I feel you need to start listening to the words of people who don’t have the agenda of pleasing you. Our nation is in a turmoil that continues to polarize us as we move forward into the future. You have offered no solutions to any of the problems that confront this nation as you only opt to continue a more of the same routine. Much like Reagan taking down the solar panels from the White House, you have managed to tear the Environmental Protection Agency into so many pieces that it should now be renamed the Agency seeing as it has nothing to do with the environment let alone protecting the environment. More arsenic in the water? Great! More pollution in the air? Awesome. I can smell and taste your improvements that you have done to this country as you continue to pander to the already overly wealthy oil barrens and car industries. Why hydrogen fuel? It is still coming from oil and is still eons away from being applicable in the real world. Why not an electric car? Batteries already exist that allow an electric car to drive 300 miles without a recharge. Why not solar power? It seems asinine that we have a virtual unlimited energy source that as of yet remains largely untapped. Think of the roofs that every building possesses, think of all the pollution that would be able to be rid of if on all buildings the roof was made of solar panels!! Power that could be used to heat and cool a home! Yet the ugly black tar roof predominates the landscape: continuing a legacy of waste and missed opportunities. Don’t tell me that money is the problem, because if anyone has shown me that governmental money means nothing, it would be you and your wars that continue to shove this country into debt. How about the next time you start a war because of nothing, you pay for it? Speaking of war, your diplomacy was actually working in Afghanistan despite my better judgment until you decided to invade Iraq. We had a very special momentum that will never be seen in this world ever again. There was promise for the people of Afghanistan in the hopes to end the terrible hold that the poppy has placed on not just this nation, but people of all nationalities for generations. We could have ended the dependence of the poor to grow poppies, but instead of offering alternatives, incentives you simply mandated them to change without a care as to their livelihood. How can you expect to win them over when you do not care about their welfare? Even regular growers of crops were forced to switch to poppies when our troops came in and desecrated their land because the Taliban cowardly chose to hide in civilian areas. Did you offer those unfortunates support then? The resounding answer is no. Don’t get me wrong though, tremendous improvements have been accomplished that I might have otherwise never dreamed possible in Afghanistan; however, these are only pocket areas of success as women across the country are still denied access to education. If only Iraq had not become such an obsession with you I truly think that we would have seen a diamond in the rough that is Afghanistan; instead, you have piled more shit on top of it that I wonder if it will ever shine. Yet I feel that it can. We need to send agriculture engineers, increase security to all the country and stop support of warlords that are only our friends in that they hate the Taliban. Also with regards to war, the continued and increasing monetary support of the defense department is sick and deplorable. How can you justify the billions of dollars that are continually pored into an industry whose only mission is to create death and destruction? Granted a military is necessary, but we don’t need to buy more nuclear warheads nor do we need to spend any money on developing new weapons. What’s wrong with the ones we have now? Have we not realized that this continued cycle of making new weapons only puts us into positions where we arm our enemies with our old weapons? When will we have enough missiles, enough guns, or enough fighter jets? It is sickening to know that there are people starving in this country as you propose to spend more money for more weapons. Doesn’t that remind you of North Korea? Was that not the reason that we think them to be evil? Granted that it is not on the scale in this country as it is in theirs, but the fact that it even exists is still completely sick. Can’t we use that money to feed the people of the world instead of trying to kill them? How about we use that money to provide health care to everyone of this nation? Why does concern for our fellow citizens make me a communist or socialist and not an American? Truly this needs to be reversed in that we need to allow for everyone in this country to have access to the basic human needs. It can be done. It should be done. But will you do it? Will you have the courage to stand up in front of this nation and tell everyone how wrong it is to support killing people at the expense of providing at the very least, affordable health care for all, or food for the starving? And should that task even need courage? If nothing else that speaks volumes to the values of this country. There is so much to be done for this country and the world. Yet it is possible to accomplish them all. With fewer vacations to your ranch and more vacations to Afghanistan, I can see a bright future where all can prosper. ~Timothy
