SPEARHEAD IN JAMAICA TO FILM NEW VIDEOS
We just put the finishing touches on our new album, ALL REBEL ROCKERS which was recorded in San Francisco and L.A. but mostly in Kingston Jamaica, so it seemed an obvious choice to return to Jamaica to catch the vibe for videos of the songs "A Little Bit a Riddim" and "All I Want Is You". We worked with legendary director Ras Kassa who is the premier video director in Jamaica right now. Kassa has unlimited energy and creative power behind the camera and is amazing to watch work - jumping, dancing and keeping the cast and crew laughing the whole time on set.
This album is our tuffest yet, taking things deeper into the reggae/rock/dancehall groove than we have ever gone before, but without losing the revolutionary lyrics, catchy melodies, or the unifying power of music we have always championed.
Shooting videos on the streets of Kingston was an incredible experience because so many people came out to not only watch, but dance and get in on the act. Music in Jamaica is a true communal experience!
This album will be our most visual to date as we currently have four videos in production at the same time, having just shot scenes in Indonesia for the songs, "Hey World" and "Remote Control" with the multi-talented Carla Swanson and hot upcoming director Dugan O'Neal.
Keep your eyes peeled to this site as we will be launching music videos and new FRANTI-V episodes in the very near future.
Big Love, Michael Franti

$25k RAISED FOR BUMI SEHAT NATURAL BIRTHING CLINIC
Michael Franti and Indonesia’s favorite singer Oppie Andaresta performed on March 1st to an sell out crowd - a spectacularly successful pre-festival opening for the Bali Spirit Festival 2008.
More than 75% of ticket revenue – $25k – goes to a new birthing clinic for Bali’s Bumi Sehat Foundation, which supports pregnant and nursing mothers in Bali and Aceh.
Franti flew from USA for the event, at Gado Gado in Seminyak, launching the first Bali Spirit Festival of Yoga, Dance and Music. The Indie singer, who has sung for projects as far apart as South America and the Middle East, says he receives more than he gives at these events.
“When I offer my heart of help Bumi Sehat, it enriches my life and inspires my music. This concert was the perfect start for decades of Bali Spirit festivals to come,” Franti said.
